The nurse who went viral in 2020 for helping deliver a homeless woman’s child along a sidewalk in Makati has reunited with the mom in celebration of the baby’s second birthday.
According to News5, nurse Mary Lorraine Pingol met up with Jeremy to hand her a cake for her daughter who recently celebrated her second birthday.

“Masaya ako na nagkita kaming muli ngayon ni Jeremy, ang babaeng walang tahanan na aming tinulungan sa kanyang panganganak sa kalsada noong Agosto 2020. Dalawang taon na wala akong balita tungkol sa mag-ina matapos silang dalhin ng rescue team sa ospital,” the nurse said.
Mary Lorraine has received recognition for her commitment to help others in need. She was given the “Bayaning Nars” award by the Philippine Nurses Association and was also given the DAISY Award by US-based DAISY Foundation.

It can be remembered that Lorraine, who was already running late for work then, was stopped by barangay rescuers to ask for help. She admitted that she did not have much confidence in performing what she needed to do as she had been out of clinical practice for several years after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Lorraine also said that she is happy to be able to help, but she is also glad that she felt like a “real nurse.”

“Being out of Nursing practice and doing different jobs for so long, I felt out of track and I asked God to give me direction. I asked Him to gradually bring me back to the Nursing profession without compromising my health. I told Him that I would like to regain myself as a nurse,” she told DAISY Foundation.
“He answered my prayer as I was able to get a job in occupational health nursing. But, He didn’t just simply answer my prayer. I never expected that people would appreciate me and that I would gain recognition as a nurse. I feel humbled and grateful.”
